The Roots of Power Pop

Power Pop is a sub genre of Rock and Roll
and as such tied close to the history of Rock music. Its the combination
of rock’s garage/RnB roots and the British invasion that started with
The Beatles. But other genres have shaped power pop through its infancy,
from Mod, Bubble Gum, Psychedelic, Surf and Traditional Pop.

The 1970’s

Although it has a sizable cult following, the genre of power pop
does not get the attention and respect it deserves.

This site was created to honor artists who produce
great power pop music, even if they may be categorized in
another form of popular music (i.e. rock, pop, new wave, alternative, etc.)

How Does An Artist Get Into The
Power Pop Hall of Fame?

The 1960’s

Firstly, the artist has to be known for playing power pop music.
Secondly, the artist has to have made more than one single album, this
eliminates a bunch of “one-hit-wonders” from the list. And lastly,
we require that the artist has released their first record at least 15 years ago.
